I have been learning Spanish with Myriam for over 10 years by attending various formal and informal classes, usually on the basis of a 2 hours session each week. I have found her to be at all the times a diligent, sympathetic and enthusiastic teacher. In addition to teaching the essential grammar. The foundation of all languages, she has constantly endeavours to make her lessons interesting by varying her teaching techniques, These include getting her students to read texts aloud, making them listen to native speakers with a variety of Spanish accents and repeating texts that she has read out but using the students own words. Myriam widen the scope of her teaching by introducing her students to the culture, customs and history of Spanish-speaking countries and the depends of the ability of each group introduces her students to contemporary literature.

I have had lessons with Myriam from intermediate to advanced which initially I used to supplement the work I was doing on my degree course at the OU. Myriam is a very good teacher and encourages students to speak only in Spanish in her classes which are very interesting, covering a wide range of topics including different cultures and traditions not only in Spain but also in South America. An excellent teacher.

I am really enjoying learning Spanish with Myriam. She uses various teaching methods, so the classes are never boring. Sometimes we speak in small groups, have listening exercises, watch videos, look at flash cards etc, so it makes the classes much more varied and interesting.
Myriam is also a very relaxed teacher, so you never feel under any pressure, which is so important, especially when beginning to learn a new language. She seems to know instinctively if you are struggling with a question, and always deals with it in such a way that you never feel uncomfortable for not knowing the right answer!
Her knowledge of Spanish grammar is amazing, and she is able to explain things in a way we can all understand. It's wonderful to now see myself and fellow class members becoming more confident in the Spanish language with Myriam's help. I certainly could not imagine a better teacher.

Myriam has been a Spanish Tutor for Somerset Skills & Learning and Somerset College, for more than 20 years, and also a Lead Languages Tutor since 2006, managing a team of several language tutors.
Over the years, Myriam has taught hundreds of learners, many of whom stay with her for several years, learning Spanish from beginners level, and ending up being able to converse confidently in the language. An experienced teacher, Myriam knows how to make the lessons fun, whilst still teaching all the grammar necessary to be able to speak the language well. As a native speaker, she is also able to introduce a lively and colourful cultural element into her classes, for Spain and also South America.
